This school is one of only two Local Authority Nursery Schools in Cornwall. They have federated as Cornwall Nursery Schools Federation and have one governing body. Camborne Nursery School is purpose built and equipped to a very high standard to meet the educational needs of 2 – 5 year old children. The staff include highly experienced, qualified teachers and teaching assistants. The staff team is made up of four qualified teachers, all our key workers have NVQ3 qualifications or above. All of our staff are qualified to meet the welfare requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The school is a calm, secure and stimulating place for children.
In January 2002, we were delighted to be designated by the Government as an Early Excellence Centre. In 2006 we were designated as a Children's Centre. In 2017 we became Cornwall's Early Years Teaching School alongside Truro Nursery School.
All of this experience is not only reflected in the high quality of the education offered here, but also recognises the other services we now offer for babies, younger children and for their parents / carers. We support families with training around special educational needs (SEND), reading with your child, speech and language development and learning through play.
We have supported many early years providers across Cornwall and the South West with training, DfE mentoring and advice.
We are always striving to find better ways to meet the educational, care and training needs of our families and children so let us know if we can help you or if you have any ideas which would benefit us all.
As a Local Authority School we are inspected under the same OFSTED inspection system as are all other Primary and Secondary Schools. We were last inspected in 2025 and given an outstanding report, copies of which can be obtained from the school.
We want your child to leave us feeling secure, confident, and having been given a sound educational base for all their future learning experiences. You, their parents, are their first and most important teachers and we welcome your help and co-operation in all their learning.
The Governors and the Staff hope that your child will be very happy in our school.
