SEN & Disabilities

We are an inclusive nursery and support all children to reach their full potential.  all children have opportunities to explore and investigate using all their senses. We support all children to make progress in all areas of learning. (Please see our SEN Policy for further information)

Makaton: We have been awarded Makaton acredited status.  We enjoy learning Makaton in the nursery to support children with their language and communication development.  Singing and signing is a fun way to engage all children and help them communicate together.

Learning, Language and Loving it! Here at Camborne Nursery School we ensure that communicating clearly and supporting children in their language development is our top priority.  All staff have been trained in “Learning ,Language and Loving it” a Hanen Approach to child development.  If you would like to find out more about this program speak to the Headteacher or any member of staff.  www.hanen.org

Camborne Nursery School follows the “Code of Practice” to support children with ‘Special Educational Needs’.

Soundfield System This system is used to support all children to develop good listening skills.  A microphone amplifies the teacher’s voice and ensures children can hear clearly.  This can be particularly supportive of children with Glue Ear.

Visual Support: Here at the nursery all staff use visual support for children. Picture and symbols help with times of change through our visual timetable.  Some children may need extra support to communicate.  Our staff are fully trained and liaise with external professionals to develop children's communication.

Additional Support for Children: We support all children to achieve their full potential and use the expertise of you the parent alongside other professionals to support all children.  We enjoy multi agency working with other professionals including the Local area SENCO/ speech and language therapists/ paediatricians/ health visitors/ family support workers /occupational therapists and autism workers.
