Frequently Asked Questions

What age can my child start at Camborne Nursery School?
We take children from the age of 18 months until they start at primary school.

My child is still in nappies.  Can he/she start at nursery?
Yes, we have changing facilities in nursery and we will support you in toilet training your child.

Will my child have a snack at Nursery?
We offer a healthy snack in the morning and afternoon, including fruit and vegetables sometimes picked from the garden.  Milk and water is available at all times for children.

How can I find out if my child is eligible for funding?
All children receive 15 hours of free nursery education from the age of 3 (the funding starts the term after their third birthday).  Some children are eligible for funding from the age of 9 months.  To see what funding your child might be eligible for please visit the Best Start in Life eligibility checker

Can my child stay for extra hours in addition to their nursery funding?
Yes, we charge £6 per hour for extra sessions.  Please speak to your child's teacher or a member of the office staff to see if we have space available.

Do children have to attend nursery every day?
No. Nursery education is not compulsory, but this outstanding nursery offers your children a chance to explore, investigate and learn in readiness for school.  We advise that your child builds up to 5 sessions a week as research has shown that routine and friendships help children achieve better outcomes.  We offer flexibility to working parents and are open 8.00am to 5.00pm, term time only.
