The BBC and National Literacy Trust have been at Camborne Nursery School today filming and sharing our World Book Day Celebrations. We had a great time sharing one of this year’s books “The Magic Balloon.”
Books and stories play an important role in developing a child’s language and communication skills well before they can read. It’s an opportunity for children to hear new words, enjoy the rhythm of the sentences, practice turning the pages or connecting words with pictures, as well as being a lovely bonding moment between a parent or carer and a child.
The earlier we start building that love of reading, the better. Research shows that when children enjoy reading, it can boost their confidence and wellbeing, improve their academic performance, and their future outcomes – setting them up for a bright future.
